Option Two: Insurance Billing

(Includes religious cost-sharing groups that RCM bills directly on behalf of the client)

Starting in February 2023.

Rochester Community Midwives bills insurance as an Out-of-Network provider, thus your reimbursement is subject to the limitations of your specific insurance plan.

Insurance-using clients are asked to the pre-pay the cash fee ($5,500) up front to offer the best discount possible. After insurance is billed following delivery, Rochester Community Midwives will reimburse the client with the money collected from the insurance company. Even though Rochester Community Midwives bills insurance at a higher rate, clients will never be asked to pay more than self pay rate.

Because insurance may cover 0% - 100% of the Midwifery Care Fee, Rochester Community Midwives reserves the right to charge the full fee amount, without discount, and collect as much as the insurance company will pay, even if that payment/reimbursement is greater than $5,500.

This Global Fee includes prenatal care, labor and birth, postpartum, and newborn care (including newborn screenings). The Global Fee does not include fees with additional services like labs, ultrasounds, birth pool rentals, birth certificate copies, and doula services.

For families who reside outside the standard service radius (1hr car travel time from Rochester), a $25 call out fee will be added for each service rendered at home.
